Recently, I learned of a very busy office inside our local Goodwill store. The Financial Information and Service Center (FISC) is a program of the Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin, funded by the United Way and a grant from the Community Foundation, but they provide services we might all benefit from. FISC is a non-profit consumer credit and counseling service, ready to help you achieve?financial?independence.
Ever feel like you spend too much, or that your spending habits are keeping you from financial security? Is the amount of debt you carry making you feel like you will never get ahead? Are you worried about the potential of?bankruptcy? Thinking about buying your first home, planning for retirement or wishing you could begin an investment portfolio? Does your credit score make any sense to you? These are only a few of the many?financial?issues FISC can help with.
FISC is open to our community. There is a very small, one-time counseling fee, but that will be waived if you have trouble paying it. No one is turned away for the inability to pay. FISC is certified by the National Foundation for Credit?Counseling?and the Department of Finance, so you can be sure the advice you receive is sound. ?Teri Horner is the fantastic counselor here in Oshkosh.
