Thursday Hearsay: Change of Plans | Skinny Mom | Tips for Moms ...

I once heard a saying that said (something along the lines of), ?We all need to stop making motherhood harder by pretending it is easy.? I thought it was poignant because as we all strive to display a clean house, freshly groomed kids, and perky attitudes ? it can often feel refreshing to see a fellow mother with a messy house, snotty-nosed child, and looking a little overwhelmed. It?s true, right? You know the moment when you breathe a sigh of relief and think, ?Ah, I am not alone.? Just being honest.

I also think it is even more admirable and brave when a mother has the courage to share that she has experienced a failed pregnancy. The fact of the matter is that many women have experienced this. In fact, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) reveals that anywhere from 10-25% of all clinically recognized pregnancies will end in miscarriage. However (and understandingly so), few women have the strength to openly talk about this.

One woman, who for as long as I have followed her blog, has lacked no strength physically (hello, she is a mother of FOUR boys!), has now revealed to me that her inner character is equally as strong in her recent post, Change of Plans. This woman is Busy Moms Get Fit founder, Valerie Solomon. This week Valerie shared her emotional experience of her recent miscarriage and I have to take a moment to commend her strength in being honest about her journey with her many followers. I know that she provided comfort to many women, simply allowing them to know they are not alone.

Kudos to you, Valerie. Stay strong (although that is a given).

Read Valerie?s courageous post on how life sometimes interferes on our best laid plans and a ?new normal? must be found ? all while being a mom first.
